Overview of Tagalong:

After a night in Kogan, it’s off to Tara for 5 nights for a dose of culture and camels racing. Heading west, a 3-night stay in St George allows you to recharge, take in a cotton farm and winery tour or just relax. The next stop is Dirranbandi (2 nights) to do a Cubbie Station tour. Time to head towards Kingaroy, so for something a bit different, 2 nights of free camping at both Meandarra and Maidenwell. It’s then time to tell some porkies and get some pork on your fork with 4 nights in Kingaroy for BaconFest. A two-nightstopover in Wallumbilla will allow you to view the new $5m community hub, “The Wheat Shed”. It’s then up to Claravale Station (2 Nights) for some real country hospitality followed by a night in Mitchell (hot springs beckoning). It’s circus time, now spending enough time in Tambo and Blackall to take in most of their activities, split with 3 nights at Lara Wetlands.

Tagalong Highlights:
Tara Festival of Culture and Camel Races, 31 July - 2 August 2026. Staged every two years, the festival includes a genuine camel race meeting while celebrating the diversity of culture in the Tara region. Non-stop multicultural stage acts, roving entertainment and live music Friday and Saturday nights adds to lots of fun. Camping onsite is all part of the fun of the Camels + Culture + Camping festival experience!

Partake of a Cotton Farm & Winery tour or a Sunset Cruise on the Balonne River in St George. At Dirranbandi, it’s planned to do a Cubbie Station Tour, the largest cotton property in Australia. Back to Meandarra for a visit to the nationally recognised ANZAC Museum. Stopping at Maidenwell allows dining at the pub and touring the South Burnett before arriving in Kingaroy for BaconFest - Let’s squeal together about our bacon community!

Kingaroy BaconFest is a one night and one day sizzling food festival that celebrates the versatility of bacon and puts Australian pork centre stage. As one of the South Burnett's favourite food festivals, BaconFest always promises a crackling good time for locals and visitors alike.

With stopovers at Wallumbilla (The Wheat Shed), Claravale Station (entertained by Gill Campbell) and Mitchell (to ease those aching bones), it’s time to take in the Blackall Tambo Circus Carnival. Information on this carnival is scarce as this flyer goes onto our website, but this is what’s promised by the organisers; Get ready for another exciting Blackall Tambo Circus Carnival program in 2026! Join an unforgettable experience under the Big Top as Circus returns to the birthplace of the Australian Circus. Yes, it all started out there!
