Overview of Tagalong
Roma's Easter in the Country
Roma’s famous, five-day Easter in the Country festival is of all thing’s country. The long running event encapsulates everything unique that outback Queensland’s lifestyle has to offer.
Recognised as one of Queensland’s premier Easter events, the festival offers a range of activities for the thrill-seeker, the cultural and culinary buff, those who like to take things a little more leisurely and without a doubt – 2026 once again will see Roma showcase some of the best entertainment you will experience over the Easter weekend!
The event gives an opportunity for the residents of the area to invite their relatives and friends, as well as ‘first timers’ to spend the long weekend in the country to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere and innate friendliness the Roma and the Maranoa Region has in ‘spades.’
It’s time to join us in 2026 for our 50th anniversary and immerse yourself with Queensland’s Outback.
The 2026 festival program has not been finalised yet. Details will be provided as soon as they become available.
Tagalong Map
Tagalong Highlights:
Embark on an unforgettable adventure starting in charming Chinchilla, then wind your way to the striking landscapes of Cania Gorge National Park, where three action-packed days await—think bushwalking beneath soaring cliffs and discovering hidden forest secrets. The excitement builds as you strike out for the Sapphire Gemfields, rolling up your sleeves to fossick for glittering sapphires and maybe uncover a treasure of your own. Heading further west, you’ll spend four thrilling days in iconic Longreach, delving into the pioneering spirit at the Qantas Museum, walking in the footsteps of legends at the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame, and cruising the enchanting Thomson River at sunset.
The journey continues south through classic outback towns—Blackall, Augathella, and Mitchell—each with its tales and character, before you arrive at the breathtaking Carnarvon Gorge. Here, four nights amid rugged ranges, majestic sandstone cliffs, vibrant gorges, and ancient Aboriginal rock art promise a spectacular finale to your adventure. Every stop is a new highlight on a journey designed to surprise, inspire, and immerse you in the magic of outback Queensland. This trip finishes in Roma at the famous Easter in the Country Festival.
