Overview of Tagalong/Long Paddock Drive: Kick off this unforgettable journey near the QLD/NSW border, with a lively start at either the rustic Aratula Tavern or the serene Texas free camp. On Thursday, 5 April, we roll into Corryong for the legendary Man from Snowy River Festival. For four epic days, immerse yourself in the heart of Australian culture—think vibrant bush poetry, whip-cracking displays, and campfire camaraderie. No power hookups here, but fresh water and a dump point keep things comfortable.
Come Monday, we cruise downstream, weaving through breathtaking free camps and charming caravan parks. Along the way, we’ll sip our way through a couple of iconic wineries, savouring bold reds and crisp whites under the Aussie sun. By 16 April, we hit Echuca and trade wheels for waves, boarding luxurious houseboats. These aren’t your average boats—expect spacious queen-size rooms, each with its own private ensuite for ultimate comfort. No bathroom queues on this trip!
From Echuca, we follow the mighty Murray River to its mouth, where stunning landscapes await. We’ll linger a few days to soak in the scenery, exploring the renowned McLaren Vale wine district. Rumour has it, a cheeky mystery tour might spice things up! Keep your eyes peeled for a chance to hop aboard one of the region’s graceful paddle steamers for a nostalgic river ride.
As the adventure winds down, we head home with a detour through the world-famous Barossa Valley for one last wine-soaked hurrah. Then, it’s on to Broken Hill, taking our time to soak in the outback’s raw beauty. After a well-earned rest, we make our way to the tranquil Bowenville Reserve free camp for a heartfelt farewell evening under the stars. The next day, we part ways, hearts full and memories richer.
